Embassies of Burkina Faso and Mauritania

This spring our participants come from the countries of Mauritania and Burkina Faso.
They will be exposed to the type of work done by their country’s embassy.
U.S. Congress & the Supreme Court
Participants will have the opportunity to observe a session at the Supreme court, viewing the U.S. justice system in action. Later in the trip, Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton will welcome the group to her office as they visit Capitol Hill.
Monuments and Memorials
A tour of the monuments and memorials in Washington DC is more than just a great opportunity to take photos. Students see evidence of the government they have been learning about in lectures. Students visit the Smithsonian museums, learning of U.S. history, government the foundations of democracy.

As outstanding high school students, participants in YLP tour several universities, learning of the American college experience, admissions procedures for foreign students and possible areas of study.
Colonial Williamsburg and Mount Vernon 
The participants take a four-day trip to historic Virginia to experience American History first hand. They visit Colonial Williamsburg, Mount Vernon, Fredericksburg, Monticello and the University of Virginia.
Volunteering
Students help to feed the less fortunate by volunteering with Food & Friends, the Fredericksburg Food Bank, and the Community for Creative Non-Violence (CCNV.)
